About us

From a Maroubra
garage to Kensington

Built in 2012 on the dreams of three young founders. Thirteen years later it is a thriving martial arts community — and for a lot of people, a second home.

Our origin

It started in a
car mechanic's shed

From humble beginnings in a Maroubra garage, Legends Gym moved to Kensington in 2013, built on the dreams of three young founders.

We are now a thriving martial arts community offering diverse classes for all levels. Our dedicated coaches create a welcoming and authentic atmosphere — which is what makes Legends Gym a true second home rather than somewhere you simply hold a membership.

The early days of Legends Gym
Our history

Thirteen years,
four turning points

A garage, a move, a bag factory upstairs, and a foundation that puts local kids in front of a coach.

February 2012

Maroubra

A small run-down car mechanic was repurposed as the very first boxing gym in Maroubra. Legends Gym was born.

June 2013

Kensington

From humble beginnings to a well established fight centre. The move to Kensington quickly made a name among the combat sports community.

April 2017

Kensington

Sanchez Boxing Equipment is established one level above the gym, supplying handmade boxing bags to Legends and to all of Australia.

January 2025

Kensington

Legends Life Foundation is created, helping young people access a boxing gym in their community and the life skills that come with it.

Our values

What we ask of
everyone in the room

These are the four things the gym is actually built on, in our own words.

Value 01

Respect

We believe in respecting our instructors, fellow students and the martial art itself, both inside and outside the gym. It is all about creating a positive environment.

Value 02

Discipline

Training in martial arts teaches you discipline through hard work, following rules and consistent practice. It is a big part of personal growth.

Value 03

Perseverance

Challenges are part of the journey. We encourage our members to push through setbacks, helping them reach their goals and become stronger.

Value 04

Teamwork

We foster a sense of community here. Training partners support one another, making everyone's journey more enjoyable and effective.
